KRISTIN KIRKLEY SCHOLARSHIP FUND

It’s not often that one encounters one of those rare and infectious spirits who inspires you to be better at doing more.  Kristin Kirkley was one of those beautiful creatures.  The North Texas Green Council was lucky enough to be graced with Kristin’s wit and charm as a tireless volunteer on the Graphics Committee.  Kristin was exuberant, passionate and dedicated to green building in addition to numerous other causes including coaching children’s soccer and tutoring struggling elementary kids.  At the young age of 26 she was taken from us, along with 3 of her friends, in September of 2006 when their plane crashed near Telluride, Colorado on the way to a music festival.  She lived her life to the fullest and always with others in her thoughts, heart, and actions.  The North Texas USGBC has honored her memory with this scholarship so that Kristin’s kindness will live on.

This Scholarship is open to members of the North Texas Emerging Green Builders which includes both students and young professionals up to 5 years out of school.  Additional information on requirements and deadline submissions can be found on the application form.  Any additional information regarding the LEED Green Associate exam, such as requirements to take the exam and the application process, can be found at www.gbci.org.  Per the terms of the scholarship, the application fee and exam fee will be reimbursed to the recipient once they have successfully passed the LEED Green Associate exam.
