2013 GREEN RIBBON AWARD RECIPIENTS

Category North Texas

On Thursday, March 28, the North Texas Chapter of the US Green Building Council announced the winners of their 2013 Green Ribbon Awards. The Green Ribbon Awards recognize the outstanding efforts to develop and promote extraordinary sustainable programs and creative sustainable solutions for this region by North Texas Chapter members, their customers and clients, and area communities.

Each of the nominees in the project and business categories submitted applications highlighting the practices and project elements that set each project apart. Leaders from adjacent USGBC Chapters in Texas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma evaluated the application based on criteria outlined by awards committee. The Chapter’s staff, in conjunction with the Board of Directors and other Chapter leaders, nominated and selected recipients for each of the individual awards.

Texas Senate Adopts PACE Legislation

Category Policy

Keeping PACE in Texas is pleased to report that the Texas Senate unanimously adopted PACE legislation yesterday.  Thanks to Senator Carona for the swift pace in the Senate.  The House Committee on Energy Resources held a hearing on March 20, and we anticipate PACE will be voted out of committee next Wednesday, April 3.  The list of key companies and organizations that filed testimony and registered support for the bill in both the House and Senate hearings is impressive (and attached to this e-mail).  Also check out the pro-PACE article by Jim Cardle in Texas Insider:  http://www.texasinsider.org/solution-to-texas-power-problems-moving-forward/.

We need your help to bring PACE through the House process and to Governor Perry’s desk for his signature.  Join Keeping PACE in Texas and help us with the resources necessary to accomplish our goal of commercial and industrial PACE in Texas!
