INTERNATIONAL GREEN CONSTRUCTION CODE
Tools of the Trade
The International Code Council (ICC) announced its plan to develop a model green building construction code focused on new and renovated commercial buildings with the International Green Construction Code Initiative.
The American Institute of Architects (AIA) and ASTM are cooperating sponsors for the project. the U.S. Green
Building Council (USGBC) and the Green Building Initiative (GBI) are offering their support for the project.
USGBC President Richard Fedrizzi said, “Congratulations on taking such an important step to ensure the creation of such a code system. We are pleased to support this effort in any way
possible.”
Presently, the International Code Council Sustainable Building Technology Committee (SBTC) is holding meetings to discuss the development. All meetings are open to the public.
The first draft of the International Green Construction Code (IGCC) is expected to be available for public comments in March 2010.
