USGBC NORTH TEXAS CHAPTER SEEKS PROGRAM DIRECTOR

The U.S. Green Building Council - North Texas Chapter seeks a dynamic, entrepreneurial, experienced green building expert to develop and manage the Chapter's multi-faceted green building educational and resources programs. This is an exciting opportunity to become a key staff member of this rapidly growing non-profit membership organization. The Program Director will work closely with various Committees, the Board, the Executive Director and the Communications Coordinator to meet the educational and programmatic needs of the green building industry in Northern Texas. The position reports to the Executive Director. USGBC-NTX is one of 80 chapters of the U.S. Green Building Council; the world's fastest growing NGO. USGBC-NTX's geographic area includes 129 counties in the North Teas area. The Chapter has nearly 1,000 members and is riding the wave of interest in green building in northern Texas and the nation as a whole.  For a full write-up on the position and desired qualifications, place click here.

The Program Director position will remain open until filled. First resume review will begin August 30th, 2010.

CHANGE IN LEED EB OCCUPANCY RATES

USGBC has announced that the minimum occupancy rate for buildings pursuing LEED for Existing Buildings: Operations & Maintenance has been reduced from the previous 75% minimum threshold to the new 50% minimum program requirement threshold. Technical guidance to illustrate compliance to these requirements will be made available on the USGBC web site.

The City of Dallas, Building Inspection Department, has released compliance forms for the Phase 1 of the Dallas Green Building Program (Subchapter 10 of the Dallas City Code) starting in October 1, 2009. The checklist is available on the City website at the following address. The form is designed to provide clear direction to projects and the green building permitting process. Residential and smaller commercial projects can also be found at the City of Dallas portal.
