Description
Located along Harry Hines Boulevard in northwest Dallas, this facility consolidates service and maintenance functions for the City of Dallas Equipment & Building Services (EBS), Sanitation and Street Services, and District Four Sanitation operations departments. The facility accommodates approximately 300 employees with parking for 285 city vehicles.  The complex contains more than 10,000 square yards of recycled content concrete and 646 tons of recycled steel. As part of the site remediation process, all existing concrete, asphalt, and light poles were removed and recycled, as was 98 percent of the construction waste. A wastewater reclamation system in the vehicle wash building cuts wastewater generation by more than 68 percent, while water-free urinals and low-flow plumbing fixtures reduces interior water consumption by more than 30 percent.  The 60,000 square feet of landscaping includes native plants, grasses, and trees that require little or no maintenance.  Energy conservation savings of 33 percent was achieved with the project.  An innovative energy-saving HVAC system utilizing a combination of high-performance chillers, state-of-the-art variable air volume controls, and heat recovery wheels was incorporated in the project, as well as high-efficiency boilers, reductions in hot-water demand, window glazing, high-value insulation, reflective roofing materials, and efficient lighting.
