Completed in 2007, Dallas Independent School District’s Hector P. Garcia Middle School is one of three middle schools joining DISD’s twenty-eight existing middle schools in educating the city’s sixth through eighth grade students. The new 1200 student middle school is located in the North Oak Cliff neighborhood, three miles southwest of downtown Dallas. The school’s 175,000 square foot program provides spaces for a broad selection of learning opportunities and services meeting the developmental needs of the whole child – enabling students to become responsible and independent citizens in our local and global society. Understanding that architecture is simultaneously an art, science and social activity, the school is designed to support and challenge the mind, providing the context for a stimulating and interactive education.
